Although I grew up in Savannah, GA, my family traveled to Salisbury for holidays and vacations to spend time with my grandparents and cousins. For that reason, Salisbury holds some of my sweetest memories and has always felt like home. When my husband and I moved back to the United States in 2015, we were blessed to settle our family in Salisbury.
I am a Program Manager in the Corporate and Continuing Education Division of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. In this role, I lead the strategic planning and implementation of the Real Estate and Construction Trades programs for RCCC. Each day, I have the opportunity to recruit, advise, and support students through their courses of study. I also recruit, train, supervise, and support adjunct faculty as they work to improve student outcomes. I routinely engage with governing bodies, community organizations, and employers to expand programming and promote student success.
The color purple represents the color of royalty. This is a reminder that we educate young kings and queens in our buildings, and every child is worthy of our best. The center figure, the educator, has arms that cover the children. This is a reminder that adults must establish educational spaces that protect our children from harm and allow them to thrive. Finally, all three figures are growing from the book. This is a reminder that we must create educational experiences that promote development and ongoing excellence for students and educators.
